Disclaimer

CROSBY LAW / ON CALL ATTORNEYS is a law firm. We provide the following disclosures that may be useful to you or required by law.

State-Specific Legal Disclosures

While legal services are intended only for those jurisdictions in which such services may be legally and ethically provided, this web site may be viewed from anywhere in the United States.  Accordingly, out of an abundance of caution we provide the following disclosures in accordance with certain state laws:
  • Alabama: No representation is made that the quality of the legal services to be performed is greater than the quality of legal services performed by other lawyers.
  • California: This is lawyer advertising.
  • Colorado: Colorado does not certify attorneys as specialists in any field.
  • Florida: The hiring of a lawyer is an important decision that should not be based solely upon advertisements. Before you decide, ask us to send you free written information about our qualifications and experience.
  • Iowa: The determination of the need for legal services and the choice of a lawyer are extremely important decisions and should not be based solely upon advertisements or self-proclaimed expertise. This disclosure is required by rule of the Supreme Court of Iowa. NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC: Memberships and offices in legal fraternities and legal societies, technical and professional licenses, and memberships in scientific, technical and professional associations and societies of law or field of practice do not mean that a lawyer is a specialist or expert in a field of law, nor do they mean that such a lawyer is necessarily any more expert or competent than any other lawyer. All potential clients are urged to make their own independent investigation and evaluation of any lawyer being considered. This notice is required by rule of the Supreme Court of Iowa.
  • Kentucky: THIS IS AN ADVERTISEMENT.
  • Mississippi: The Mississippi Supreme Court advises that a decision on legal services is important and should not be based solely on advertisements.
  • Missouri: Neither the Supreme Court of Missouri nor the Missouri Bar reviews or approves certifying organizations or specialist designations.
  • Nevada: The State Bar of Nevada does not certify any lawyer as a specialist or expert.
  • New Jersey: ATTORNEY ADVERTISEMENT — NOT A REFERRAL SERVICE. Before making your choice of an attorney, you should give this matter careful thought. The selection of an attorney is an important decision.
  • New Mexico: LAWYER ADVERTISEMENT.
  • New York: ATTORNEY ADVERTISING. Prior results do not guarantee a similar outcome.
  • Oregon: THIS IS AN ADVERTISEMENT.
  • Pennsylvania: ATTORNEY ADVERTISEMENT – NOT A REFERRAL SERVICE. Before making your choice of an attorney, you should give this matter careful thought. The selection of an attorney is an important decision.
  • Tennessee: None of the attorneys in this firm are certified as a Civil Trial, Criminal Trial, Business Bankruptcy, Consumer Bankruptcy, Creditor’s Rights, Medical Malpractice, Legal Malpractice, Accounting Malpractice, Estate Planning or Elder Law specialist by the Tennessee Commission on Continuing Legal Education and Specialization. Certification as a specialist in all other listed areas is not currently available in Tennessee.
  • Texas: Unless otherwise stated, our attorneys claiming certification in an area of law are not certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.
  • Wyoming: The Wyoming State Bar does not certify any lawyer as a specialist or expert. Anyone considering a lawyer should independently investigate the lawyer’s credentials and ability, and not rely upon advertisements or self-proclaimed expertise.
To the extent any jurisdiction requires the designation of a principal office or responsible attorney, the following are so designated:  CROSBY LAW / ON CALL ATTORNEYS, Classic Counsel, P.C., 1125 West Street, Suite 200, Annapolis, MD 21401, and attorney Hans J. Crosby.

No Attorney-Client Relationship

No attorney-client relationship arises from your viewing this website or by communicating with us through email or through this website, including the submission of information about your situation online or by email or phone. We are not obligated to respond to your inquiries or submissions or provide you with any form of service or assistance. We also reserve the right to decline representation for any reason. An attorney-client relationship is established only through an agreement that you sign with us.

Confidentiality Not Guaranteed - No Conflict Preclusion

Information sent to us via this website or e-mail is not secure and is done on a non-confidential basis. While we may make reasonable efforts to keep communications private, due to the nature of internet communications and the absence of an attorney-client relationship, we cannot promise or guarantee confidentiality. In certain rare situations, we could be required by law to disclose such information.

If we agree to represent you and an attorney-client relationship is established, however, then the information you provide to us is confidential and privileged. As such, confidentiality can only be guaranteed after we agree to represent you and an attorney-client relationship is established.

So that we may find the appropriate legal help for you and your situation, we may share the information you provide with other law firms, attorneys and organizations, in order to get their advice regarding your situation, to determine their willingness to represent you, or for any other reason.

You understand and agree that the information you submit, even where the information is important and you intended it to be kept confidential, will not preclude us or anyone else from representing a party directly adverse to you in a matter where that information is relevant.

No Legal or Medical Advice Online; Information Provided As-Is

The content of this website is provided for informational purposes only. Any information on this website is information relevant to typical cases only, and your situation may not be typical. As such, the information may not apply to you. You should not act or refrain from acting on the basis of any information provided here.

Nothing on this website is medical advice or a substitute for medical advice. In fact, we will never provide medical advice. Moreover, nothing on this website is legal advice or a substitute for legal advice. Legal advice is only provided by a licensed attorney that communicates with you individually.

All information on our website is provided “AS IS”. We make no warranties, expressed or implied, regarding this website and/or any online service, and hereby disclaim all warranties of any kind or nature, including, without limitation, implied warranties or conditions of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement of intellectual property or other violation of rights. We expressly disclaim all liability arising from actions taken or not taken based upon the contents of this website.

Different Relationship Structures; Not a Lawyer Referral Service

We are a law firm that advises clients on finding the type of legal help they need and connects them with attorneys, law firms or organizations to provide that help. Accordingly, we may enter into one of several different relationships: (1) We may enter into an attorney-client relationship with you and serve as your sole legal counsel, (2) We may enter into an attorney-client relationship with you where we serve as co-counsel, bearing joint responsibility with one or more other attorneys or law firms; (3) We may decline to represent you or enter into any kind of attorney-client relationship with you and bear no responsibility for your case. If you have any questions about the nature of your relationship with us, if any, please contact us so that we may clarify your situation.

We are not a certified lawyer referral service. If you are seeking a lawyer referral service, you may find one through your state or local bar association.

Licensed to Practice in Certain States; State Laws Vary

We employ lawyers licensed to practice in certain states, but we may also affiliate or form relationships with lawyers and/or law firms throughout the United States. We may also refer prospective clients to other attorneys and/or law firms located throughout the country, who form relationships with us, and are experienced in handling such cases. The laws of each State are different. This website contains information about general or common rules that apply in some States. This website may also contain information about verdicts or settlements in past cases. You cannot assume that the same rules apply, or that the same result would occur, in your State or any particular State.

The Statute of Limitations is especially important. Importantly, laws vary widely between and within States regarding “statutes of limitations,” which set a deadline to file a lawsuit. This means that a lawsuit filed too late may be thrown out, regardless of the defendant’s fault or the severity of the injuries. A typical “statute of limitations” is two or three years, but sometimes the period can be shorter, sometimes only months or even days. Accordingly, it’s critical that you consult with an attorney as soon as possible after any accident or injury.

Advertising Disclosures

This website is lawyer advertising. The choice of a lawyer is an important decision, and it should never be based solely upon an advertisement. No representation is made that the legal services to be performed by us are greater than the quality of legal services performed by other lawyers. Prior results do not guarantee a similar outcome. Any information provided regarding prior results, or testimonials regarding the quality of our service, do not constitute a guarantee, warranty, or prediction regarding the outcome of your legal matter. Cases may be handled in association with, or may referred to, other law firms as co-counsel or referral counsel.
